A member asked:

Is a potassium level of 3.6 low enough (while on lasix) to justify taking klor-con 8, or can you just eat more foods with potassium in them?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: It depends on 1)whether you're prone to arrhythmias (if so, you need to have a higher potassium) 2) if going up, down or is stable 3) was your dose of Lasix (furosemide) recently increased? If your renal function is ok, a better drug than potassium is spironolactone which is a small pill, easy to swallow, cheap as water, corrects low potassium, and is good for cardiac function.
