Keloid: A dermatologist will often inject the keloids with corticosteroids to flatten the areas and relieve itch when present. At times the keloids may be removed surgically. A treatment plan involving antibacterials and topical retin a (tretinoin) may help reduce the number of ingrown hairs that become trapped and lead to more keloids.
