See details: An ace inhibitor is given to protect the kidneys from further damage, not to lower protein in the urine.

Depends: You must mean you have protein in the urine. We do give ace inhibitors or arbs for that condition especially in diabetics to protect their kidney. A good medicine does not mean it is good for everyone who can't tolerate it. Some can get worse too. Ask your doctor, have BP and hr examined while on the medicine or off and see if it is the cause of your problem and do what is most appropriate.
