See answer : The best time to evaluate the source/cause of blood in the urine, especially when prior diagnostic studies (imaging and cystoscopy) have not provided an answer, is when it is visible and you are actively bleeding. An office cystoscopy can often provide answer in a timely fashion whether bleeding is coming from the bladder or one of the kidneys. Important to rule out UTI and coagulation disorder.
