In cad, when is blockage of an artery large enough that compensation is insufficient, and symptoms may present?

Time: The shortest answer here is that it depends on how long the blockage has been present. If it slowly developes over time then the heart has the ability to develop collateral flow through other vessels...Thus making up for the trouble. However if the blockage developes quickly...There is no chance to compensate.
