Yes: It could also be given 1 1/2 tsp twice daily to make dosing easier.

Maybe,maybe not : The dose for an infection will vary with the age of the patient and the illness being treated. If the kid is over 3 months of age and this is for a urinary tract or respiratory infection it is pretty standard. If over 3 months and for an ear infection, it is at the low end of the dosing range but might work.
