A member asked:

Very sharp, pinpointed pain on the upper right side of my head, followed by the same on my left side, but never both at the same time.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Neuralgia: Sharp, shooting, fleeting pains like yours are usually due to neuralgia in scalp nerves. The cause of this irritability is often unclear but can occur in diabetics or in nerves injured by shingles(usually on 1 side). Your case sounds more like a nuisance type rather than anything serious and requires no treatment and usually goes away. If in doubt, see a neurologist for diagnosis and advice.
