Yes it can: Frozen shoulder or adhesive capsulitis can show up on MRI as a distinct thickening of the shoulder capsule. Often an MRI is not needed as this is a clinical diagnosis. (a diagnosis made by history and examination) it is most often found in diabetics and women in their 50's and 60's. It can develop out of the blue or sometimes after shoulder injury or surgery.
