Are you infected: Silver sulfadiazine is used for infected burns. If your tattoo is infected see your physician and get a prescription. Do not share creams with other people as it will increase your exposure to more infections. Tattoos cause hepatits and you may want to get screened for that virus. Using a local anesthetic is not a good idea since that will mask if the infection goes to cellulitis.
