Usually minor: A brief contact burn from a curling iron is usually shallow (1st- or 2nd-degree). Keep the wound clean and apply topical antibiotic ointment (e.g., polysporin, (bacitracin and polymyxin) bacitracin, neosporin, triple-antibiotic ointment). Also be sure to get good nutrition so that you have all the necessary building blocks for wound healing. If it won't heal or looks infected, seek medical attention.
