Can you tell me about hereditary eliptocytosis?

Why do you ask?: this is a hereditary disorder which may appear as a new mutation or other family members may be affected. It varies in severity from 15% red blood cells affected too many more. The chief danger of the condition is fragility of the red cell membrane. A viralinfection can cause many red cells to burst which is a burden on the spleen which may enlarge, as well as development of gallstones. Anyone with this conditionshould be referred for genetic counseling
