Yes: Normally, when you look at the spine from the back it should be straight. If it is curved and the curve is greater than 10 degrees, then it is called scoliosis. A laminectomy is a surgical procedure done primarily to decompress "pinched" nerves. If an excessive amount of the stabilizing structures of the spine are removed during the decompression, a laminectomy can cause or worsen scolioisis.
