Radiates lumpectomy: Partial br radiation is performed after a lumpectomy, and radiates an area of tissue immediately around the lumpectomy cavity. It can be performed in a shortened treatment schedule. Common forms are brachytherapy, where a catheter is placed in the breast for 5 days. Or one treatment in the operating room at the time of surgery, called iort. This is shortened form the 4-6 weeks of whole breast xrt.
