Cataract surgery, complete loss of near vision, what to do?

Reading glasses: You were probably near sighted (myopic) prior to your cataract surgery which you surgeon corrected with an implanted lens that gets rid of the myopia. But unless you got a multifocal lens, you will experience blur at near after the eye heals and will need to correct this with reading glasses.

Loss of near vision: Cataract surgery (CS) has benefits & risks (rare but possible: loss of best vision, infection, loss of eye, etc). When CS benefits (improved vision from advanced cataract excision) outweigh risks, surgery is indicated. New generation premium lenses allow for better near, intermediate, reading VA. If monofocal lens placed, you will need reading glasses or Lens exchange.See eyeyedoc2020.blogspot.com
