Pre-cleaning: A full mouth debridement is the removal of all supra gingival calculus in someone that has not had a cleaning for more than 1-2 years or more. The patient is then asked to return for a second visit to remove any debris that has become reachable with the previous inflammation now subsided and the teeth then polished. If pockets are found upon probing then a treatment plan is devised for gum disease.
