A member asked:

What is the risk of wart infection on genitals?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Infections/dysplasia: Genital warts (on the penis, scrotum, cervix, vagina, vulva, perineum, perianal skin, and anus) are caused by hpv (human papillomavirus). Having warts may cause the genital lining / skin to be less uniformly intact and may slightly predispose to greater likelihood of contracting other sexually transmitted infections. Hpv can also lead to precancerous changes (dysplasia) and even to cancers.
