Depth perception: is our ability to see the world in 3 dimensions. One must have binocular (2 eyes) stereo vision, (called stereopsis.) If someone doe not have stereopsis they may have limited depth perception by relying on other visual cues to gauge depth (shadows, size difference, disparity, etc.) If both eye do not converge then true stereopsis will be lacking. This can be caused by poor vision, misaligned eyes

Not too much: There is a center for stereoscopic vision in the brain. If defect you might have poor or no stereoscopic vision which is essential for depth perception. This also can be due to poor vision in one eye. From a practical standpoint, loss of this function is of minimal problem. You need excellent stereo vision to work as a watchmaker, or to be an excellent baseball player. Little else is affected
