A member asked:

If you took phenobarbital as a young child, could it affect your brain or learning in college?

Difficult to answer: A relatively common side effect of pb after achieving good seizure control was a high incidence of irritability and some interference with cognitive abilities during treatment. Years later & presumably off pb it is unclear whether any learning issues would be related to earlier pb use or differences in the brain that led to seizures to begin with.
