Not necessarily: Surgery is always an option, but just depends on your symptoms. If you don't have significant swelling or pain, then conservative management is appropriate. If you have pain that impacts your daily activities, having the meniscus "fixed" (through an arthroscopy) is an option. "displacement" of a meniscus likely means that if you re-tweak your knee, you'll complete the tear. Good luck!
