Absolutely: The heart is a dynamic organ that responds to the needs of the body. A part of this is forming new capillaries to respond to increased metabolic needs. So if, for example, one embarks on a new exercise program, one of the adaptations that occurs is new capillaries form within the heart so the heart can supply itself with more blood so it can do more work.
