Older age sight: Presbyopia is the condition of the eye in which the natural lense hardens and loses its capacity to focus at near. Typically this starts around age 40 and the lens is fully hardened usually by age 52. The basic test is a refraction, measuring the lens powers of the eye and then trial lenses can be used to optimize near vision.
