How's monovision laser eye surgery helpful for presbyopia?

Near vision help: In monovision, one eye is set for near and one for far - usually with contact lenses. If this works, then it can be a permanent set-up with lasik which will allow you to see far and near all the time without spectacles. Presbyopia is the loss of near vision with middle age and this is one of several solutions for this problem.

Trade-Off: Monovision is the correction of one eye for distance vision, the other for near. Although it allows some people to avoid glasses or contact lenses, it is a trade-off, since the difference between the eyes may disrupt depth perception or cause blurring due to ocular competition. It is wise to try this using contact lenses (reversible) before consenting to a surgical correction (irreversible).
