If i have a broken hand, am i allowed to take off the cast, or would it be much too painful?

Do not remove: The cast is stabilizing the fracture to prevent it from shifting and to allow it to heal in an anatomic position. Do not remove the cast as fracture may not teal or heal in an abnormal pattern. Pain is not the issue.
