Fatty tumor: A lipoma is composed of fatty tissue and is a common soft tissue benign tumor. Lipomas are generally found underneath the skin in the fatty layer, are soft to the touch, usually movable, and are generally painless. They can be removed surgically as an outpatient, many times under a local anesthetic (depending on location). You may read of new procedures, their long term success are unproved.
