Swelling and burning: Swelling and burning of the ankle could be due to an internal injury. After a sprain or twist the ankle could have an efficion, and the burning could be due to injury or nerve compression. Have it evaluated, x-ray or possibly an MRI to determine if there is an internal derrangement of the ankle.
