Payment for services: Generally a therapist has a set rate for their services. However, when a therapist accepts insurance, they agree to a "negotiated rate" from the insurance company. This is the same as when you buy anything from a consolidator (airline tickets), wholesaler (buying group) or association (discounted service). The fee charged is the same, the amount paid may be different.
