Misoprostol: Misoprostol alone is not an abortion pill and in fact it's used as a drug to prevent/treat stomach ulcers. It just so happens that Misoprostol can also initiate uterine contractions, but contractions alone are not enough to cause an abortion. Mifepristone is a drug used in conjunction with Misoprostol that causes the separation of the pregnancy. Misoprostol is used as a drug for completion.
