Birth control pill: The safest birth control pill is the one that works for you. But you want to take the lowest dose pill that works for you, so discuss with your physician.

Birth control: The lower the dose of estrogen in the pill the safer it will be but all pills can cause clots. If you insist on using hormonal contraception, one of the hormone-impregnated iuds such as Mirena (levonorgestrel) or skyla would be safer than a pill.
