Short forum,: Long answer required. There are many aspects to being "social". The most important is not to talk about yourself unless asked. People love to talk about themselves so give them the opportunity and ask them.

Great question :-): Dr. Burns is absolutely right -- this is a huge question requiring much longer response. I would add that practice relating with others helps a lot. Being interested in others as fellow humans is key. They sense it when someone cares about them, like you probably do. Most warm up when someone is kind and friendly towards them. Shyness is not uncommon, though -- is this an issue with you?
