Do not do it: Epsom salts is Magnesium Sulfate and while it can be taken internally, in high doses it has toxic effects.

My dad (74) gets the feeling that he needs to go to the toilet urgently, but when he gets to the toilet and pushes, nothing comes out. This has been going on for a couple of days now. Hes tried epsom salt and an enema, but nothing changes. ?
Both toenails removed last week. The fungal infected one burns when I soak it in warm water and epsom salt after a couple minutes. Thats the only time it hurts. What can I do? Theres no swelling or pus. Can I stop soaking it and be fine?
