Commonly seen: Mri changes are seen commonly in early 40's, however, these can also occur at very young ages depending upon circumstances. Diabetes, hypertension, history of smoking, and elevated cholesterol, for example elevate the risk of white matter changes seen on MRI scans. These should not be mistaken for ms. Plaques of ms are usually unmistakable from white matter changes due to the aging process.
