Ludwig's Angina: Emergency ! emergency ! emergency ! needs to be seen immediately to prevent asphyxiation. Have his physician(s) and or dentist determine cause of swelling.

Swelling tongue: If you are saying that he never had this before and all of a sudden it happened then i would lead to allergic rxn of some kind. If it happened and keeps happening then it could be something systemic, may need to have his thyroid checked. If no other meds involved some blood work may be in order. Sleep apnea does not cause tongue swelling but tongue swelling can lead to apnea see dr asap.
