None known: Lipocontouring of the calf area does not have medical necessity, but is done to provide volume reduction and improved appearance of the area (more muscular detail). In the event there is a fat tumor (lipoma), some surgeons use lipoaspiration as a means to treat, but this would be limited to the growth only.

Lipo is cosmetic: Surgery to change the shape of normal structures is considered cosmetic and not usually covered by insurance. Repair of structures that have been damaged is reconstructive and usually covered by insurance. Extra width of your calf would be considered cosmetic
