Malignancy: Cancer is a malignancy and is difficult to cure. Some brain tumors are benign and can be successfully treated even cured.

Terminology: When you use the term brain cancer you are referring to an aggressive malignant form of brain tumor. A brain tumor is the overall category that includes both benign and malignant entities. Oftentimes, the term 'brain tumor' may be used generically as we do not know for certain without surgery whether a tumor seen on the MRI scan is benign or malignant. Brain cancers may be primary or metastatic.
