After 10 weeks: Most of the time, in the absence of a history of medical problems or prior problems pregnancy, the 1st obstetric appointment is scheduled after 10-13 weeks. This is past the time when most miscarriages would occur, so the pregnancy is more likely to be successful, and still plenty of time to address any abnormal issues that need intervention.
