Most common: The first trimester is the most common time for a miscarriage, which is why 1st OB appointments are often after 10-13 weeks. At this time, it could be from a host of reasons ranging from hormonal, to genetic, to medications, to anatomic. Because they are so common in the 1st trimester, we usually do not begin to evaluate miscarriages unless you have had more than 2.
