May affect pregnancy: Any alcohol consumed during pregnancy, as with other substances, may affect the fetus. But the effects can be extremely variable. The most important thing is to stop drinking, and of course to follow up with your ob/gyn. It is also important to discuss this issue with your pediatrician on the first visit.

Start cutting back.: This is unfortunately a really difficult question to answer with certainty. We know from studies that babies born to mothers who consistently drink have a higher risk of decreased mental aptitude, smaller size at birth, and slight craniofacial variations. You'll need to have ultrasounds to eval growth. Fortunately, there is still time to quit and time for alcohol free brain development.
