Clean air: Much of the congestion of small babies comes from irritants in their environment. Make an effort to identify ; remove anything you can smell that baby is exposed to..This includes candles, fragrances, smoke, fumes, scented laundry detergent, perfume, cleaning products, cologne, etc.Change filters regularly in your ac.Use liberal amounts of nasal saline to wash the irritants out of babies nose.

Saline and suction: Get some salt water (saline) drops and a bulb syringe (or other suction device). Put 1-2 drops of the saline into each nostril, wait a few seconds, then suction out the mucus. You may also want to use a humidifier if you have one. Elevating his head while he sleeps may also be helpful (don't put him on a pillow, though-put something under the mattress.) no congestion medicine at this age.

COLD....: Keep nose clean. Put otc saline nasal drop 3-5 in each nostril and suck with bulb syringe 3-4 times/day; make sure, you don't go too deep inside the nose. Remember, infants are obligatory nose breathers until 6 mo age. Nasal blockage causes fussiness, breathing / feeding problems. Keep room temp. At 70 f during day, 68 f at night, use a humidifier or vicks' vaporizer in the room at night, .
