Prostate cancer: The removal of the testicles will not cure prostate cancer. This is done only if the prostate cancer has spread beyond the prostate to control its spread. Is never a cure and there are medications called lrhr agonist that can be used to control the spread of cancer and avoid removal of the testicles.

Other options: while removing the testes is one way of achieving "hormonal therapy" for advanced prostate cancer, an injection of a depot medication periodically will achieve the same "castration level" of testosterone without removing the testes

Prostate cancer: Testosterone make prostate cancer grow; removal of the testes results is dropping testosterone by 90%. Many men reist this tx so drugs like Lupron and Firmagon (degarelix) are medicine options that shut off the testes from making testosterone; but they are expensive drugs and have other risks
