SLK of Theodore: It is caused by mechanical trauma on the skin of the eye (conjunctiva) that right underneath the upper eyelid. Causes include thyroid disease, dry eye, and eyelid spasms. Treatment depends on cause but generally eye lubrication and large diameter contact lens at first. Correcting thyroid problems. Surgery is sometimes necessary to remove/cauterize the traumatized tissue. Hope this helps.
