What is the treatment for flu?

Anti virals: If flu is treated in the first 48 hours, antiviral medications as tamiflu (oseltamivir) are effective. After the 48 hour period, only the individual symptoms can be treated, like fever, cough and achiness. But better than treating the illness, why not prevent it with a flu shot!

Chicken soup: The flu is a viral illness, influenza, and as such there is no actual cure for it other than time, and support, allowing the immune system to overcome the virus. Medications such as tamiflu (oseltamivir) inhibit how the virus multiplies, but it does not cure, rather knocks it down a bit until the body takes over. The best treatment is vaccination, letting the body create the destructive antibodies beforehand.

Flu tx: If you have the Flu hydrate well w water, herbal teas, soup or juice. Drink sufficiently to have pale to light yellow urine. You can use pain relievers like Tylenol (acetaminophen) or NSAID’s. Rest A LOT! In some situations antiviral medications (Tamiflu, Relenza, Flumadine) may be prescribed within the first couple of days of symptoms to hasten healing or they can be used after flu exposure to prevent illness.
