What is the best treatment for slipped capital femoral epiphysis?

Depends upon the pt.: Age, symptoms, general condition, any skin disease in the hips area, etc. I generally i fix them with 1 or 2 screws, and advise about the other side as well, like being on the lookout for that side becoming painful or symptomatic. Check with your local orthopod or a peadiatric ortho surgeon in your area. Good luck.

Surgery: Usually internal fixation with metallic screw to fuse growth plate and prevent further slippage. Sometimes bilateral and orthopedic surgeons are pinning both hips. This prevents other hip from eventually slipping. 20 to 40 percent of cases, SCFE affects both hips
