Generally yes: Infections requiring hospitalization or occurring in hospitals tend to require more powerful antibiotics, antifungals, & antivirals. Germs developing resistance to these high-powered antimicrobials are more difficult to deal with than the average germs found outside hospitals. That's why some patients are in isolation & precautions are taken by staff entering rooms—to prevent spread of infxn.
