Definite answer: Purpura does not blanche when you press on it. It will fade over a series of days. It changes color as it fades purple to pink and yellow before it finally goes away.

Does not blanch: Purpura itself does not blanch. A person with Henioch Schonlein purpura may have both blanching and non-blanching lesions as a result of the illness, but only the latter are purpura.
