A 29-year-old male asked:

i'm on clomipramine 75mg od. now suffering severe convulsions and recurrent thoughts since last one week.divalproex sodium will be good choice for me?

Call physican: Clomipramine may indeed induce seizures, but usually at a much higher dose. When considering your other medications, however, you are on three potent serotonin modulators, and the interactions amongst the three may be a problem. You may also be at a higher risk for seizures if you have had ECT recently. Please call and consult with your psychiatrist about this in detail.

Is it safe to take sodium lactate while pregnant or breastfeeding?

Category C: As far as i can tell, there is a lack of supporting data for use or ingestion of sodium lactate in pregnancy. It has not been found to be harmful or useful, either way. If you don't have to, don't ingest it. If you need it in a hospital setting, then it is safe. I recommend fresh, organic foods prepared by a trusted source...Not just during pregnancy, but all the time. Eat well! :-).

Do not need EEG: Eeg does not diagnose or predict epilepsy. Slowly reduce the med, practice good health habits, and see how you do. Three months of no medication and no seizures can be considered a "cure".
