Varies: Cough results from the inflammation associated with the lung infection, and it will last for several weeks. One may be left with wheezing (bronchospasm) and the cough may persist despite taking all of the antibiotics. Addition of medication to break the wheezing may be necessary, and so followup with the doctor who gave you the antibiotics is recommended.
