A member asked:

For what reason would an eye dr not give me alphagan (brimonidine) for eye pain?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not for eye pain: Alphagan is a glaucoma medication not a pain reliever. It contains brimonidine, a type of medicine called an Alpha agonist that causes the ciliary body to reduce the amount of fluid that filters out of the blood vessels and thus would raise the pressure in the eye. It does the opposite- it causes eye pressure to drop.
