Apples and oranges: Premolars extractions are usually required when there is moderate to severe crowding or when there is a large horizontal overbite. If your overbite was both skeletal as well as dental, jaw surgery plus braces is often the best treatment. See a qualified orthodontic specialist for options.

Yes, within limits: You can get an improved result by seeing an orthodontist to reopen the spaces. Implants would have to be placed in this scenario. Probably better to find an orthodontist that doesn't routinely use extractions to resolve crowding. Some critics exaggerate the harm from extraction orthodontics but a consultation with an orthodontist or two will give you an update on your current options. Sometimes teeth do need to come out to avoid gum complications.
