Keep it clean: After 5 days if the pain isn't significant, gentle rinsing with salt water to keep food out of the socket is often a good idea. Once the bone covers over, it will become more comfortable. Eventually the healing will be full and normal but it takes longer after a dry socket. Of course, going back to the treating dentist is a good idea for further evaluation but home care is important.
