Hepatitis: During hepatitis, jaundice occurs which is due to increased bilirubin in the blood. A by-product of bilirubin is urobilinogen which is excreted in the urine causing the dark color.

Dad,84,urine after waking up in the morning on Sunday was dark maroon. Drank 2 gl. of water and color changed to his usual pale yellow all day. Today morning color was light maroon. Drinks 6-7 gl of water per day. See Urologist right away? Serious?
